The role encompasses providing a high standard of care to both inpatients and outpatients, ensuring a first-class clinical service, and fostering teaching and research initiatives. Additionally, the post holders will collaborate closely with clinical and management colleagues, adhering to the Trust's operating procedures and service plans, and contributing to the overall development and success of the department within the region's designated Major Trauma Centre.
There is an opportunity for 2 substantive consultant appointments to be made within the Trauma, Orthopaedic & Rheumatology Directorate to begin as soon as possible. The posts are for a consultant trauma surgeon with a subspecialist interest in lower limb arthroplasty and trauma surgery. The department would expect appropriate fellowship training or previous experience in the areas of major trauma, orthopaedic trauma and elective orthopaedic surgery.
The successful candidates will join an expanding team of 24 consultants with special interests in trauma, paediatrics, revision arthroplasty, shoulder and elbow, knee, foot and ankle, hand and wrist, spinal and rheumatoid surgery. The successful candidates will be expected to embrace our team working philosophy and engage in our multidisciplinary approach.
Derriford Hospital is the designated Major Trauma Centre for the South West Peninsula. A proven interest and appropriate training in all aspects of trauma care will be required.

- To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trusts and Divisions service plans
- To maintain the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty
- To work effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and promote team working
