The Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to recruit three Occupational Therapy Assistants for their Acute Occupational Therapy Service in Taunton. The role involves supporting patients experiencing acute changes in their independence, with the primary objective of facilitating their timely discharge from the hospital, either with or without additional support. The positions include two in the Care of Older People team and one in the Stroke Team, where the Assistants will manage a small caseload of patients under the guidance of qualified Occupational Therapists.

Occupational Therapy Assistants will conduct treatments aimed at improving patients' abilities and rehabilitation goals, while effectively communicating with patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities involve gathering and relaying patient information, obtaining consent for treatments, observing patient responses, and making recommendations for adaptive equipment. They will prepare and implement treatment sessions, document progress, and collaborate with patients in goal-setting processes, ensuring that necessary interventions are executed efficiently to optimize patient outcomes before discharge.
