Band 6: £44,806 to £53,134 a year p.a. incl.  PERMANENT 

An opportunity has arisen in Pre- assessment Unit. We want an experienced nurse to become part of a well-established and progressive team. This specialist team provides assessment and information to patients prior to surgery. The aim is to ensure patients can return to optimum independence by providing health and well-being services

The Pre-Operative Assessment Service is nurse led and therefore clinical examination (heart and chest) and working towards ECG interpretation are necessary for this role. Other duties include Advanced assessment of complex patients including ordering of investigations, interpretation and referrals to clinicians

You will case manage high risk patients and you will link with the Anaesthetist/Surgeons to ensure all patients are adequately prepared for surgery. You will support with training and developing of staff, and you will have an opportunity to shadow speciality teams for your learning and development. The department has a two-day training Programme to support new members of staff to the department. You will have regular updates from the Lead Nurse and anaesthetic team

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills with a willingness to learn and develop within this specialist field of nursing. This is an exciting role for a Registered Nurse to work closely with patients, plan their surgical journey and ensure patients are safe to undergo surgery and anaesthesia.
