Attendance at CPD events organised by the practice or CCG every month.

We are looking to recruit a Practice Nurse as one of our nurses is leaving due to unforeseen circumstances. Our current team consists of a Senior Practice Nurse and two Health Care Assistants.

This is a part time position, approximately 27 hours over 4 days. Flexibility is essential to cover the GP access hours rota and annual leave.

You will need to be computer literate and experience with SystmOne would be preferable but not essential.

Duties to include general treatment room duties, phlebotomy, wound care, NHS health checks, ECG's, vaccinations and immunisations and other general nursing duties. We are happy to provide training and support to the right person to further their skills, according to the needs of the practice, eg cytology and chronic disease management.

JOB SUMMARY Responsibility for all treatment room work, to include venepuncture, cytology, dressings, ear syringing, vaccination and assist in minor operations.

Run Health Promotion clinics. Promote health by health education and counselling.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Advise on the promotion of health and prevention of illness.

2. Recognise situations that may be detrimental to health and well-being of the patient.

3. Maintain clinical knowledge and undertake education and training in order to do so.

4. Maintain accurate and up to date records, manual and computerised.

5. Conduct good practice in all aspects of care and nursing.

6. Maintain good working relationships and communication with patients, Doctors, and all other members of the team.

7. Carry out injections and immunisations as appropriate.

8. The introduction, development, and responsibility of preventative health checks to practice patients.

9. Visit elderly patients in their homes to assess social, domestic, and intellectual status. Initiate care and attention where needs are identified, through the appropriate agencies.

10. Responsibility for equipment and stock in the treatment room and the maintenance thereof.

11. Any other duties as may be determined, in order to enhance the service provided by the practice, commensurate with the range of duties described above.

Infection Control

Apply and follow infection control measures within the practice according to local and national guidelines.

This includes:

Universal handwashing and hygiene precautions

Collection and handling of lab specimens

Segregation and disposal of waste materials

Reporting and treatment of sharps injuries

Dealing with blood and bodily fluid spillages


GP contact

Has a basic knowledge of the needs of the patient and practice according to guidelines and constraints within the GP contract and QOF

Assists in clinical audit

Works effectively within the team

The post holder must be in possession of a current UKCC Personal Identification Number and hold a current driving licence.
