Band 5: £29,970 to £36,483 a year pa pro rata  PERMANENT  GOOD SALARY 

As a Nurse within ED you will be part of a brilliant, friendly, hard working team who strive for excellence and support each other.

The job role is primarily looking after the needs of adults and children and their families, using a holistic approach. Identifying their health and well being needs using assessment skills and prioritising care and providing excellent standards of treatment to both the patient and their families or carers. You will use the skills and training you already have coupled with the skills and knowledge you will gain through the fantastic training opportunities on offer. Providing support and health promotion to families that attend is crucial and good communication skills with children, families and other members of the multi disciplinary team is essential.

The trust has guidelines and policies to follow that you will become familiar with to help support your clinical management of patients.

In addition, all this will be done in our brand new state of the art purpose built ED unit, where current staff have worked hard to fundraise to be able to purchase play and sensory equipment and art work to make the unit as child friendly and stress free as possible.

As a nurse you'll play a key role in assessing the nursing needs of the adults, children or young people that access our services, taking into account their medical, social, cultural and family circumstances.

You will work as part of a team to effectively prioritise patient care and manage the flow of patients through ED. You will be able to respond to emergency situations and support people through their time in the Emergency Department.

You will be able to communicate effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the needs of patients are met.

Perform comprehensive assessment of patient nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care according to changing health care needs, including providing clinical expertise, advice and guidance in a specialist area of clinical practice to improve the overall care provided by the team.

Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team/agencies to ensure that patient needs are met.

Involve patients, relatives/carers in the delivery of care, providing reassurance and support to assist their understanding and co-operation.

Prepare the clinical area for safe practice by ensuring that cleanliness is maintained, materials and equipment are ready for use, including clearing away afterwards.

Provide escort and transfer for patients as directed by the multidisciplinary team.

Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.

Collect, collate, and report information, maintaining accurate patientrecords/documentationTo always be caring, approachable, consistently professional and clinicallycompetent (develop clinical competence if newly qualified) registered children's nurse who ensures patient safety and well-being is paramount at all times.

To effectively manage (/ develop the leadership skills over time and as appropriate to effectively manage)

To support and advise junior colleagues, students and unqualified staff and supervise the nursing care provided ensuring safe practice at all times.
