We are seeking a full-time
Health Care Assistant
to join our team, to provideessential support to Clinical Staff, including Nurses and Doctors, as well as the wider multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will work closely with administration staff and managers to ensure the effective delivery of services to our patients and service users. The successful candidate will operate within their scope of ability, authority, and responsibility, contributing to the smooth running of a Teesside-wide service.


As part of this role, you will travel across various locations within the Teesside area so access to a car and full UK driving licencewill be required.

We are looking for a skilled
Health Care Assistant
to provide frontline support in our integrated sexual health service. Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for patients requiring asymptomatic screening, conducting tests such as phlebotomy, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, and STI self-testing instruction.
  • Assisting in clinical procedures, including the collection and recording of specimens, and providing support during implant and IUCD fittings.
  • Offering advice on safe sex practices, performing condom demonstrations, and ensuring all clients receive confidential, non-judgmental care.
  • Assisting clinical staff with patient assessments, including blood pressure, height, weight, and BMI recording.
  • Working within safeguarding frameworks, addressing concerns about child sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation, and domestic abuse, while following protocols.
  • Engaging in chaperone duties, ensuring a positive experience for clients, and participating in regular clinical supervision.

The ideal candidate for the
Health Care Assistant
role will have the following qualifications and skills:


Essential:

  • Phlebotomy qualification
  • GCSEs (A-C) in English and Maths
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively within a team


Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care
