The "Volunteer to Career" (VtC) program at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust aims to address staffing shortages in healthcare by encouraging local volunteers to explore careers in Health and Social Care. This initiative is in partnership with Inspira and targets individuals residing within the Cumberland Council boundary, offering them the opportunity to volunteer for at least 60 hours over a minimum of 7 months. Volunteers will provide companionship and support to patients on Ward 4 of West Cumberland Hospital, engaging them in various activities like games, reading, and conversation. Successful volunteers may be considered for positions as Casual Healthcare Assistants and will have the chance to complete the Care Certificate.

Applicants must be over 18, eligible to work in the UK, and willing to undergo recruitment checks and training. The role involves facilitating meaningful activities for patients, especially those with dementia, and creating a supportive environment. Additionally, participants will receive preceptorship support if they transition to healthcare roles, and the program includes various employee benefits upon completion. It's important for candidates to ensure they meet eligibility criteria before applying, as those who do not will not progress in the application process.
