The Occupational Therapy Assistant at Livewell Southwest in Plymouth will support the in-patient team on Cotehele, assisting individuals primarily over 65 with functional mental health issues. Under the supervision of qualified staff, the role entails helping patients develop and maintain their skills, managing their illness effectively, and engaging them in therapeutic and social activities tailored to their needs. This includes facilitating therapeutic programs, conducting assessments, and providing one-on-one support both in the ward and in the community.

Applicants should be prepared to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining professional boundaries and accurate documentation while adhering to mental health policies and legislation. The role requires effective communication skills and the ability to work independently, alongside responsibilities such as assisting in care planning, participating in patient assessments, and supporting the smooth operation of the team. There is also an emphasis on continuous professional development and adherence to health and safety standards. The position may require flexibility to work across a seven-day service and is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.
