To provide a key role in supporting the Multi-Disciplinary Assessment process for autism diagnosis, within Mid-Yorkshire Hospitals Childrens Therapies Services.

Under the supervision of an HCPC registered Childrens Speech & Language Therapist, the post holder will be expected to:

Act in a Care Coordinator role within the autism assessment pathway.

Signpost families to relevant services & assist onward referral processes where appropriate.

Support & contribute to the effective communication of agreed advice post MDA.

Support the implementation of strategies where appropriate.

Conduct informal assessments as directed by HCPC registered SLT.

Communicate assessment findings effectively to the wider MDA team.

Support & contribute to the follow-up process of MDA.

Support and contribute to analysis of the autism assessment pathway .

Support the creation of materials/programmes.

Support in governance process and service development projects.

Support delivery of workshops to professionals and families.

Participate in regular clinical and safeguarding supervision.

Participate in regular team meetings.

Our Autism Diagnostic Service providing multi-disciplinary assessment (MDA) for children in Wakefield is seeking a new team member as we expand our service. This is an opportunity to help us shape and develop the future of the team and work as part of an evolving service.

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a permanent Advanced Speech and Language Therapy Assistant within the Autism Diagnostic Service at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. You will be part of a team of Speech and language therapists within the MDA pathway.

Our ideal candidate has experience of working with a paediatric speech and language department and has experience working with families and children. You will demonstrate a high level of communication and organisational skills.

You will provide a key role in supporting the MDA process for autism diagnosis. You will act in a care co-ordinator role and provide informal assessments and feedback as part of the MDA pathway.

As part of the co-ordinator role you will signpost and support families during their journey through the autism assessment pathway. You will communicate appropriate support and contribute to advice and implementation of strategies following the MDA assessment.
