The Apprentice Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) role at Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust is designed for individuals with experience in care settings who are passionate about supporting patients with anxiety and depression. This apprenticeship does not require a degree; instead, it seeks candidates with relevant experience in support, care, or administrative roles. Successful applicants will undertake a full-time training program in collaboration with the University of Exeter, beginning in March 2025, which includes both academic study and practical work. Upon completion, apprentices can apply for permanent PWP positions within the Talking Therapies service.

In this role, the apprentice will work within primary care settings, conducting mental health assessments and providing brief psychological interventions in accordance with National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines. Responsibilities include facilitating guided self-help through various modalities, including face-to-face and online sessions. The position emphasises a commitment to professional development, staff wellbeing, and culturally sensitive care, and it requires attendance at in-person training sessions as well as service locations across the NHS Talking Therapy Services.
