EMPATHY HOLISTIC MULTI-DISCIPLINARY NHS ROLE MODEL
The Theatre Practitioner role at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust primarily involves serving as an anaesthetic practitioner or nurse, providing professional and compassionate care throughout the perioperative process. Responsibilities include assisting the anaesthetist, managing complex anaesthetic equipment, ensuring emergency and resuscitation equipment is prepared and in working order, and participating in multidisciplinary teams for various surgical and critical care scenarios. The practitioner is expected to demonstrate effective communication, empathy, and clinical skills while maintaining adherence to safety and health protocols.

Additionally, the role requires involvement in service development, quality improvements, and safeguarding initiatives for vulnerable populations. The Theatre Practitioner will supervise and mentor less experienced staff, contribute to emergency resuscitation teams, and may rotate between scrub and anaesthetic duties, helping ensure smooth operations in both elective and emergency surgeries.
