The South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine to join a supportive team of 25 consultants at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. The position offers 10 programmed activities (PAs) in a busy critical care environment with a 33-bed unit that provides specialized care across various medical specialties, including Major Trauma and Neurosurgery. Candidates must have full GMC registration and be on the specialist register for intensive care medicine, or nearing certification. The role includes both daytime and night-time responsibilities, supported by a robust middle-grade team and flexible working arrangements tailored to the appointee’s interests.

This role is ideal for those with either Single or Dual CCT backgrounds in Intensive Care Medicine, with potential responsibilities extending to The Friarage Hospital depending on the specialties involved. The unit is designed to respond to varying patient needs, maintaining a strong consultant presence both during the day and at night, with a call frequency of 1:14 for full-time consultants. The successful candidate will be instrumental in enhancing existing services through their specialized knowledge and expertise.
