Security Team Leader (Training) inNOTTINGHAM inNOTTINGHAM PUBLISHED 12 NOV 2024

Band 3: £24,071 to £25,674 a year per annum  PERMANENT 

This role is responsible for providing a uniformed specialist service and leading a team of Security Officers, including a CCTV Operator, in their duties. Ensuring that patients, visitors and staff are given advice and provided with a safe and secure environment in line with legislation and particularly in emergency situations. This will include communication with emergency services.

The post holder will protect people and property, detecting and preventing crime including operating and controlling access and key control systems.

Fundamental to the role will be dealing with issues regarding challenging particular patients, visitors and staff, where difficult circumstances prevail (e.g. smokers, abuse issues, car park incidents and unwelcome visitors). The Trust has a policy and guidance for the prevention and management of violent and abusive behaviour, this role will involve aiding in applying the agreed techniques.

The post holder will be required to routinely work between the two main NUH sites, but be able to work across any of the NUH sites at any time when instructed, and also to conduct car parking & traffic management duties outside of typical office hours (e.g. attending to minor equipment faults / issues, patrols, responding to queries, receiving payments).

Training of staff will form a key role of this position.

Your primary duty is to ensure the safety and security of all persons and properties at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust and to promote a safe environment and reduce the fear of crime by providing a high profile visible presence.

To manage the duties and conduct of the Security Officers and CCTV Operator during their shift (which may include car parking related activities). This includes a responsibility for the recording the Officer's time & attendance, their appearance and equipment. To coordinate with the Assistant Security Manager for the team's requirements during office-hours.

To make rota adjustments and call in / request relief staff outside of office hours where required as a result of unforeseen operational requirements (i.e. in response to a serious incident) or to cover for staff absences (i.e. sickness, non-attendance or emergency leave).

Ensure that Security Officers are allocated duties that they are trained and licensed to undertake and that they act in a professional manner and in accordance with the Trust's values and behaviours.

Work with the Operational Security Administration Assistant to coordinate the administration of staff for holidays and sickness absences.

Carry out training of staff as and when required.
