The Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full-time Consultant Obstetrician with a special interest in Diabetes and Maternal Medicine in Basildon. The successful candidate will join an experienced multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing comprehensive care for patients with diabetes during pregnancy. Key responsibilities include leading the management of maternal diabetes cases, improving existing diabetes and high-risk obstetric clinics, covering labour wards and antenatal clinics, and participating in clinical governance and risk management efforts. Additionally, the consultant will provide expert opinions on complex cases, develop standardized care pathways, train resident doctors, and engage in surgical procedures as needed.

The role involves close collaboration with other healthcare professionals to enhance obstetric services, particularly for high-risk patients, and will include participating in the on-call rota.
