The Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is hiring a Medical Physics Technologist for a full-time, permanent role within the Radiological Sciences Group in their Medical Physics department, based at Queen Alexandra Hospital. This position involves providing radiation safety expertise to clinical departments, performing safety and performance testing on X-ray imaging equipment, auditing patient radiation doses, and handling various technical and administrative tasks. Applicants should have a minimum of two years of experience as a Medical Physics Technician or equivalent; however, those with suitable qualifications but lacking experience may be considered for a Band 4 Trainee position.

The role requires strong technical skills to ensure patient safety and accurate performance across a range of complex tasks. Responsibilities include conducting radiological performance testing, radiation measurements, and equipment calibration, as well as serving as an operator under IRMER 2017 regulations. The technologist will also contribute to training junior technicians and work closely with clinical scientists to deliver specialized scientific and technical services.
