This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Band 5 staff nurse to join our friendly team in the specialist Gynaecology Outpatient Department based at St Peters Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person who is keen to expand their skills.
We provide a variety of specialist diagnostic and treatment services including Outpatient hysteroscopy, colposcopy, two-week rule, one stop clinics, uro-gynaecology, flexible cystoscopy, Endometriosis and fertility services.
This post has plenty of opportunity for further professional and personal development and progression.
This is a full time role working Monday - Friday and the option of compressed hours will be considered.
The post holder will
- To take charge in the absence of the Deputy Sister, with the support of the gynaecology matron and/or lead nurses
- To be responsible for the care of patients assigned to outpatient clinics and specialist outpatient diagnostic and treatment procedures including women undergoing invasive gynaecological procedures such as colposcopy, hysteroscopy, trans-vaginal ultrasound, vulval dermatological treatments, urodynamics and flexible cystoscopy.
- Ensure all IPC protocols and processes are adhered to
- Ensure daily and monthly environmental and IPC audits are completed
- To be responsible for the recovery of women following said procedures
- Must have a positive attitude to Women's Health

- Be available to work Mondays to Fridays, with the flexibility on hours during the day to cover the needs of the service.
About us
- To be responsible for the unsupervised assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of plans of care, ensuring high standards of evidence based care.
- Supervise nursing practice and the delivery of patient care in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Trust/Unit Policies and Procedures.
- Act as an effective role model and demonstrate effective organisational and leadership skills.
- Deputise for the Deputy Sister under the guidance and support of the Gynaecology Matron and/or Lead Nurses
- In the absence of the Deputy Sister to take charge and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the clinics and health care assistants.
- Participate in planning and implementation of quality initiatives and targets, in conjunction with the Deputy Sister, gynaecology matron and the Lead Nurses as appropriate.
- Be conversant in theory and practice with current emergency resuscitation techniques and fire regulations and procedures.
- Provide high quality nursing care for women undergoing examination, diagnostic procedures, treatments, minor procedures and during their recovery
