Key responsibilities include assessing and managing dysphagia in inpatients, developing and evaluating communication support packages, demonstrating initiative in problem-solving, and taking on supervisory duties as needed. The position also involves contributing to service development within the Speech and Language Therapy team, reinforcing the Trust's commitment to patient-centered care in a bustling hospital environment.
We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a dynamic Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM). We are also very happy to consider applications from experienced Band 5 therapists who are in the process of completing dysphagia competencies.
The post is based at Royal Stoke University Hospital and involves working collaboratively with wider teams across several disciplines on the bustling acute wards. Our combined goal is to provide an excellent standard of care across all pathways, with patient welfare being at the heart of everything we do.
The post holder will provide Speech and Language Therapy services across the inpatient settings of Royal Stoke and County Hospital. This is a dynamic post that requires the post holder to manage a varied caseload, including dysphagia and disorders of communication, and work closely with uni/multi-disciplinary teams/agencies in addressing a range of care/support issues across the spectrum of conditions, facilitating safe and effective early discharge and improving the health and wellbeing of the population served.

Be competent in the assessment and management of inpatients with dysphagia across all acute ward areas at RSUH and County Hospital
Be skilled in the assessment of communication and the implementation and evaluation of care/support packages.
Demonstrate initiative and autonomy, whilst being creative in finding solutions to problems
Fulfil supervisory responsibilities as required
Fulfil work to support service development, as part of the wider SLT team
