The role of Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics (T&O) with a focus on Paediatric Surgery at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust combines expertise in paediatric orthopaedics within a multidisciplinary team. Primarily based at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, with additional sessions at Bedford Hospital, the appointee will support the established paediatric orthopaedic service, which includes subspecialties addressing conditions such as Cerebral Palsy and Hip Dysplasia. The position allows for the development of specialty interests in paediatric surgery while ensuring high clinical standards for trauma and orthopaedic care across a wide geographic area that includes a high birth rate population.

Key responsibilities include sharing on-call trauma commitments, leading fracture clinics, and engaging in the education of junior staff. The role emphasises clinical governance, audit participation, and ongoing professional development, all framed within the supportive culture of the Trust. The consultant will also engage with regional clinical networks for comprehensive patient care and will collaborate in multidisciplinary meetings to address complex cases effectively.
