The Clinical Nurse Specialist in Osteoporosis at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for optimizing osteoporosis management services in collaboration with lead clinicians. This role includes conducting research and audits, setting clinical standards in osteoporosis nursing, and ensuring a high-quality, comprehensive service for both inpatients and outpatients. The nurse will operate independently, receiving direct referrals from primary and secondary care, interpreting results, and providing treatment recommendations to improve patient care.

Additionally, the specialist will assess patient needs, implement and evaluate evidence-based care packages, and ensure effective resource utilisation aligned with the Trust's objectives. They will offer specialist advice to GPs and medical teams regarding treatment initiation and adjustments, ensuring that patient care is tailored to meet individual lifestyle, gender, and cultural needs.
