We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse manager to join our oncology and Haematology helpline and Acute oncology lead at Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering the Helpline oncology and haematology service. They will provide a learning culture, delivering evidence based practice and co-ordinating the multidisciplinary teams to provide high quality patient experience. They will lead in clinical practice in the department, ensuring that clinical standards are upheld and best practice is followed at all times.
You must have strong leadership and managerial skills as well as skills in developing services and staff. You must have substantial experience in oncology/haematology with the skills and knowledge of delivering SACT.
The lead acute oncology nurse specialist will be a key player in the development and delivery of acute oncology services to enable and support early, timely and effective care for patients presenting with complications of cancer/cancer chemotherapy.
They will provide a specialist nursing service undertaking assessment and triage of patients with a known or suspected cancer diagnosis and those patients of unknown primary, ensuring rapid referral to the appropriate oncology service and timely access of any required investigations/service interventions.
To support the lead oncologist in quality assurance/cancer peer review.
To develop and integrate the acute oncology service model into clinical practice alongside other members of the acute oncology service.
To work closely with members of the Trusts cancer management team and other appropriate health and social professionals to co-ordinate, influence and develop acute oncology services within and across the primary, secondary and tertiary care settings, in line with local, network and national guidance and standards.
