The Deconditioning Therapy Support Worker (Band 3) role at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust involves providing therapeutic interventions to patients in an acute inpatient setting, focusing on preventing physical decline and promoting independence. The post holder will work as part of the therapy team under the direction of registered practitioners, implementing treatment plans that incorporate principles of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. Responsibilities include executing exercise programs, assisting with activities of daily living, educating patients and staff on the importance of maintaining independence, and ensuring safe discharge planning.

In addition to direct patient care, the role entails assessing patients with mobility and occupational difficulties, monitoring their progress, and maintaining effective communication with patients and their families. The support worker will also participate in administrative and clerical tasks, help uphold health and safety standards, and contribute to ongoing professional development. Participation in the weekend working rota may be required, and adherence to organisational policies, including those related to safeguarding and patient confidentiality, is essential.
