An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Gastroenterology Specialist Nursing Team and also work alongside the colorectal team as a Lower GI Straight to Test Clinical Nurse Specialist. This post is based at Whipps Cross University Hospital site within Barts Health NHS Trust. This is a band 7 role depending on experience.
The post-holder will assess patients in outpatient clinics who have been referred via the lower GI straight to test telephone assessment service and the 2 week wait colorectal pathway, ensuring patients receive the most appropriate investigations in a timely manner.
The post holder will be the first point of contact for people being referred to Whipps Cross University Hospital site via the straight to test telephone assessment service and 2 week wait lower GI service for suspected colorectal cancer.
The post holder will undertake a thorough outpatient consultation, providing appropriate patient information and booking the patient direct to endoscopic procedure or other clinically appropriate investigations or to a further out-patient appointment.
