This post holders key roles are:

To research into the benefits of Simulation Based Education (SBE) and Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) in the non-medical workforce undertaking Professional Education activities and Practice Development

Plan, deliver and evaluate the integration of SBE in all established non-medic education throughout the Trust provided by Professional Education and Practice Development Educators

To assist with Human Factors within education and development working with the Human Factors faculty

The post holder is not expected to be an expert in the activities which are being simulated. However, they are expected to work closely and take on board the knowledge acquired from the subject expert involved

To focus the integration of SBE from student clinicians on placements, clinical inductions (Trust and Departmental) Preceptorship programmes (Nursing, AHPs and Midwives), International Recruitment, HCSWs Care Certificate programme to ward based Practice Development teaching

To collaborate within the Educators Forum, Preceptorship Council, Education and Development Council for Pathways to Excellence

To identify how SBE and TEL can be utilised towards a GHFT Preceptorship Academy

To work closely with the Safety and Risk department for evidence of Threat and Error that can be researched within the use of SBE

To work collaboratively towards a Quality Improvement Initiative to increase and provide a more structured approach to simulation based education for HCSW, TNAs, NAs, Nurses, AHPs, Specialist Practitioners, Physicians Associates, ensuring that all learning objectives for these staff groups are identified

To promote a culture change to embracing SBE within non-medic education

Promote the findings to national simulation and TEL Networks and actively engage with conferences locally and nationally

To present to the Trust within relevant shared decision councils

To develop and maintain new relationships with other professionals involved in SBE and TEL locally. I.e. postgraduate medical team and the University of Gloucester

To develop and promote a trust-wide simulation faculty with appropriate training opportunities including in house "train the trainer" and debriefing sessions

To work collaboratively with the GHNHSFT Digital Education Team and Immersive Learning Technology Officer post holder (in partnership with NHSE, formerly HEE)

Leadership and managementThe role is underpinning by the delivery of following:

Network locally, regionally and nationally and communicate complex ideas and concepts between the clinical environments, Academic Education Institutions and the wider health care community (One Gloucestershire Integrated Care System)

Represent Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust at meetings with Academic Education Institutions and the wider health care community (One Gloucestershire Integrated Care System) as required enabling a positive partnership approach across the system.

To effectively support the development of the non-clinical workforce, professional education practitioners, practice development and practice educators, clinical educators, mentors, students and other learners in practice, the post holder will:

Be responsible for the ongoing implementation and management of the Standards of proficiency for registered nurses (2and equivalent for other health professions across GHNHSFT e.g. HCPC

Attend relevant funded SBE/TEL train the trainer courses for CPD

Attend the Gloucester Quality Academy Human Factors Instructors course

Participate within the HEE Simulation Network and report regularly on the project findings.

Support the Head of Professional Education Apprenticeships and Careers Team to ensure that the NMC Quality Assurance Framework (2and any other relevant professional bodys quality standards and measures are successfully implemented with effective partnership working between our partner Academic Educational Institutions and Health Education England

Engage with Professional Education Practitioners, Practice Educators, Professional Education Facilitators, Practice Development Nurses, other clinical educators in the Trust and Clinical Skills, to support SBE and TEL in classroom and ward areas.

Collaborate with Professional Education Practitioners, Practice Educators, Practice Development to enhance educational settings and environments to promote learning for all staff students and learners.

Undertake Human Factors awareness for SBE

Collaborate with Professional Education Managers to plan, deliver and evaluate SBE and TEL in International Recruitment OSCE Educational Programmes.

Collaborate with Practice Educators to plan, deliver and evaluate SBE and TEL in Care Certificate programmes.

Collaborate with the Practice Education Facilitators to ensure Student placement experience includes SBE and TEL opportunities and feedback within the student forum.

Collaborate with the Head of Professional Education to ensure that SBE and TEL is as a standing agenda within the Preceptorship Council.

To work with Preceptorship programme leads for nursing, midwifery and AHPs within GHFT to embed SBE and TEL

Ensure the provision of a comprehensive selection of learning environments which support staff to develop professionally

Establish and maintain links with Academic Education Institutions to support the appropriate Simulation Based Education and Technology Enhanced Learning

Ensure communication regarding research and evaluation of the project

Work collaboratively with students, newly registered clinicians, established clinicians specialist clinicians and managers to promote a culture of simulation based education from low fidelity to MDT learning, as well as the development of clinical excellence and competency in safe and professional practice

Work collaboratively with Professional Education Practitioners, Practice Educators, Practice Development Educators, Clinical Educators, Professional Education Facilitators, managers and academic staff to conduct and respond to feedback, evaluation and educational audits.

Participate in the development of and support key partnership working to ensure that simulation based education is enhanced by developing a shared approach and commitment between service and education for the integration of both the theoretical and practice elements of educational programmes.

Monitor and evaluate clinical standards, through clinical presence, observation, student/learner feedback and evaluation.

Identify and develop areas of poor practice in conjunction with , Professional Education Practitioners, managers, supervisors and assessors to improve patient experience

Deliver accurate and comprehensive reports and data to the Chief Nurse, Associate Director of Education and Development Service, Head of Professional Education, Apprenticeships and Careers Team or NHS England as requested

Explore and develop opportunities for inter professional learning

To work with University of Gloucestershire (UoG), which is the HEI within our One Gloucestershire ICS, to include the needs of students and ongoing training from student clinician to new registrant (NRN, AHP etc) in SBE.

To link with the wider ICS education teams to learn and disseminate best practice

To participate fully in personal appraisal talent conversation process, continuous professional development and maintain a personal development portfolio

We are looking for an innovative individual to embed and research Simulation Based Education (SBE) and Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) as an educational and learning method to non-medic education for one of the biggest hospital Trusts in the country.

For this exciting post, the successful applicant will work closely (as job share) with the Professional Education team, educators, and clinical specialists to develop and support a range of structured training, education, and professional development programmes for staff at all levels and staff working in GHNHSFT, with educational collaboration with other organisations and workplaces including the wider ICS.

The education and development of staff is paramount to ensuring patient safety and as a Professional Education team having an understanding of different educational and learning methods is imperative to creating the best learning environment for staff. This includes students on placements who are coming from Higher Education Institutes used to undertaking various methods of education, to newly registered clinicians on preceptorship programmes and established clinicians in various disciplines throughout the Trust; this includes nurses, midwives and AHPs.

This role is integral in creating a culture change on SBE and TEL to non-medic education within professional education and CPD education and to evidence Quality Improvement and staff engagement.

The post holder will be expected to:

o Work towards Pathways to Excellence for Professional Development by being integral to the various shared decision making councils and the integration of SBE into the GHFT Preceptorship Academy.

o Liaise with HEI's, NHSE, GHNHSFT educators to make a difference in the education and development to our current and future workforce provision within the Trust and One Gloucestershire.
