An opportunity has arisen for a secondment or fixed term contact to cover maternity leave in the Paediatric Assessment unit. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 nurse who would like to progress or an experienced Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to work within our Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU) at Queens Hospital Burton.
Our Paediatric Assessment Unit provides urgent/emergency care for babies, children and young people in and around the burton area and provides care from birth to 16years.
We work closely with the Emergency Department at Queens Hospital Burton, the paediatric inpatient ward and the Children's Emergency Department and paediatric inpatient services at Royal Derby Hospital.
The PAU is open from 0930-2200hrs 7 days a week. The successful applicant will be expected to work these hours and in time rotate to the Children's Emergency Department at Royal Derby Hospital.

You will need to be able to demonstrate post registration experience in a Paediatric Urgent Care or Emergency Setting, with in charge experience.
You will assist the Senior Sister in ensuring care delivery and management of PAU is implemented within agreed frameworks in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures, values and behaviours.
The Sister/Charge Nurse takes responsibility and is accountable to delegated nursing care within the clinical environment. They provide nursing leadership and are accountable for patient, public and staff experience. They will lead, offer clinical advice and support management of services to ensure the delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate nursing care.
The role involves working as part of a nursing and medical team to provide urgent and emergency care to babies and children within PAU and ED at Queens Hospital Burton. You will be responsible for triaging and prioritising babies and children's medical needs as well as streaming them to alternative services and pathways.
You will plan, implement and evaluate holistic, individualised patient care in a safe and caring environment in the most efficient and clinically effective way whilst acting asthe patient's advocate and maintaining privacy and dignity.
Applicants must hold RSCN or RN child branch qualification.
