The Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a full-time Consultant Anaesthetist position in Basildon. Candidates must possess full registration with the General Medical Council and have completed at least one year of advanced general training. The role primarily involves anaesthetising patients across various surgical specialties, particularly in elective and emergency vascular cases. The successful applicant will join a team of 23 Consultant Anaesthetists, covering elective theatres with on-call commitments currently set at 1 in 16.

The department provides a comprehensive anaesthetics service, with operations in multiple theatres, including those dedicated to day surgery and maternity, as well as extending services to A&E, X-ray, Cardiology, and ECT. The position requires active participation in a patient-focused service model, provided seven days a week. Additionally, the successful candidate will be involved in the training and development of specialist trainees and participate in regular audits and meetings within the department. Immediate commencement is expected, with the AAC Panel scheduled for October 4, 2024.
