The Mental Health Act Services Officer at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in Hove is responsible for ensuring high-quality data and practice related to the Mental Health Act (MHA). Key responsibilities include managing and supporting MHA-related data input in Carenotes, conducting regular audits on MHA practices, and delivering training to MHA team and clinical staff on MHA administrative processes and legislation. The role involves overseeing MHA administration across the Trust, providing guidance to staff on legal compliance to prevent unlawful detention and treatment, and supporting Associate Hospital Managers in fulfilling their statutory duties.

Additionally, the Officer will collaborate with various team members, including the MHA Services Manager and Information Analyst, to ensure adherence to Trust policies and effective service continuity. Active participation in responding to Care Quality Commission visits and ongoing professional development to stay informed on legal requirements related to mental health law is also essential. This position emphasises the importance of maintaining quality standards and up-to-date knowledge in mental health administration.
