The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full-time Cook at Freeman Hospital, offering a 37.5-hour work week with a focus on achieving a better work-life balance compared to traditional hospitality roles. Candidates should have experience in diverse cooking methods, particularly for special diets, and possess a qualification in food preparation (City & Guilds 706/2 or NVQ Level 3) along with an intermediate food hygiene qualification. Previous experience in NHS Catering is advantageous, and applicants should be prepared to pursue further qualifications if necessary.

The role involves preparing and cooking meals for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to food hygiene standards and national nutritional policies. The position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including early and late hours, with two weekends scheduled out of three. The Cook will also be expected to perform general kitchen duties, including maintaining cleanliness and temperature controls of food products.
