Band 8c: £74,290 to £85,601 a year per annum  PERMANENT 

Do you hold lived experience of a life altering health condition? Are you an experienced peer/ lived experience leader with a track record of bringing insights from lived experience into strategic contexts? Do you hold expertise in supporting others to understand and apply different engagement methodologies- from coproduction, to involvement and participation?

The Deputy Director for Lived Experience will work highly autonomously whilst reporting closely into the Director for Lived Experience. You will be responsible for supporting the operationalisation of Lived Experience Practice (LXP) in MPFT, in line with the vision and strategic direction set by the Director for Lived Experience. They will hold strategic oversight and provide guidance and support across the organisation in regards to Co-production, partnering with our communities and colleagues - including peer workers- across MPFT.

You will be responsible for promoting the vision and values of MPFT and for the trust's priorities in regards to Lived Experience, Co-production and Community Voice. They will lead by example and ensure that they demonstrate the trust values in collaborative work with communities and colleagues across the organisation, ensuring support to teams and services who wish to embed lived experience, co-production, involvement and an enhanced focus on user voice and experience in all that we do.

Proposed interview dates for this post will be the 15th and/or 16th May 2025

You will be responsible for delivering the Trust's Strategy for Lived Experience, Co-production and Community Voice across the organisation, with the support of the Professional Leads for Lived Experience Practice and Co-production as well as the Associate Director for Lived Experience & Corporate Co-production.

To provide effective strategic, professional and managerial leadership to all Heads of Lived Experience and Co-production, as well as the broader lived experience workforce across MPFT as agreed;

Support the development and articulation of best practice in the lived experience workforce, holding accountability for the provision and oversight of effective governance arrangements for the workforce;

Hold responsibility for the direction and strategic development of the Wellbeing and Recovery College including the Lived Experience Learning & Development Team and Coproduction & Involvement Team;

To oversee the development of the Coproduction and Involvement team's annual business planning;

To oversee the Wellbeing and Recovery College's annual business planning

About us

Responsible for the continued development of the Senior Leadership Team and embedding the Heads of Lived Experience and Co-production in their respective care group teams and spaces.

Responsible for the strategic planning and operationalisation of the systematic growth of the lived experience workforce, supported by the Trust wide Lived Experience Leadership Team, to ensure high levels of productivity, motivation and workforce development that is responsive to needs of local demand as well as national guidance and expectations;

To ensure personal recovery principles and a social inclusion framework are retained at the heart of all lived experience workforce roles, ensuring that people who use services and their supporters participate and contribute to the process;

To provide support to community agencies in order to facilitate and promote recovery focussed practice and social inclusion, in line with the Trusts vision;

To ensure that the Director for Lived Experience is kept informed of new requirements and developments related to the lived experience workforce;

To provide reports to the Trust Board, Executive Group and Care Group Boards as required;

To ensure that the lived experience workforce are regularly updated regarding national, regional and Trust developments;

To formalise links between emerging peer and lived experience worker skillsets and coaching competences at local and national levels;

To liaise with Trust Professional Leads and Service/Clinical and Care Directors regarding development of services within their area;

To contribute to the positive public image of the Trust;

To support the Trust in its contribution to the wider public understanding of what it means to have lived experience of mental and physical health issues, and the reduction of stigma and discrimination;

To deputise for the Director for Lived Experience in representing the lived experience workforce and the Trust in relevant local, regional and national forums;
