Dispenser

The following are the core responsibilities of the Dispenser. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

To be responsible for checking all medicines dispensed, ensuring there are no discrepancies

Dispensing medicines to the entitled population safely and accurately

Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary, liaising with the dispensary team to facilitate reordering

Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable

Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy

Ensuring safe disposal of returned and/or out of date medicines

Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed within set timesframes

Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters

Processing prescription requests via email, phone, fax, face-to-face and online

Assisting the Assistant Manager in the preparation of monthly returns

Always maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Always maintain accurate records, including appropriate coding entries


Receptionist

The following are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system

Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

Signpost patients to the correct service

Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

Clinically code data on EMIS (training would be provided)

Photocopy documentation as required

Secretarial letters (training will be provided)

Filing patient notes

Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required

Input data into patients healthcare records as necessary

Direct requests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team

Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner

Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards

Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

Action incoming emails and correspondence as necessary

Scan patient related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients healthcare records

Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota

Due to the increased demand within the practice, we have a new vacancy for a Dispenser/Receptionist. This exciting and permanent part time post (of up to 25 hours per week) will enable you to become an integral and valued part of our small, friendly, supportive and efficient team.

The role can be up to 25 hours per week

The rota to be discussed at interview. Shifts will be Monday to Friday, between 8.00 am 6.30 pm

Salary to be discussed and will be dependent on qualifications and experience

Dispenser Job Summary

To be responsible for the processing of prescriptions in accordance with practice policy and legislation. In addition, the post holder will be required to support the Practice Manager in ensuring a high-level of service is delivered at all times.

Receptionist Job Summary

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, the processing of information and assisting patients as required.

To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
