Special Needs School Nurse
Division: Women, Children and Young People
Care Group: Children and Young People
Band: 6
Salary: £37,338 - £44,962 per annum/pro rata
To work as part of The Special School Nursing Team to assess the healthcare needs of children and young people with additional healthcare needs and learning disabilities. The post holder will be a deputy to the lead nurse and act as a role model for the junior team members in the delivery of a high standard of nursing care.
Overseeing and delivering care to children and young people in specialist pre-school and school provisions. Training staff in school to meet the healthcare needs of children and young people.
Participating in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the child/young persons care. Delivering therapeutic interventions to pre-school children who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities and additional health care needs.
Provide strong clinical leadership skills, supporting energising, inspiring and empowering others in pursuit of a shared vision to ensure the effective management of the community learning disabilities.
To assist and support the lead nurse in the establishment of an efficient working environment, making the most effective and efficient use of staff, supplies and services.
In co-ordinating the day to day management of the clinical areas, delegates duties and care appropriately, whilst maintaining overall responsibility.

About us
Undertake the lead in the setting and auditing nursing standards implemented in the department.
To take an active role in risk assessment supporting and implementing strategies to minimise risk.
Ensure incidents and near miss are reported through promoting a no blame culture.
Ensure all staff act accordance with local, hospital and statutory guideline and policies.
Assisting the lead nurse in any grievance, disciplinary, performance or sickness issues as appropriate and in accordance with Trust procedures.
Assist in the recruitment and retention of nursing staff.
Ensure and support the Lead Nurse in the delivery of the staff appraisal programme.
Assist the Lead Nurse in developing a culture that is challenging, stimulating, rewarding and supportive.
