The role of Locum Consultant in Psychiatry for Adults with Learning Disabilities at Hywel Dda University Health Board in Pembroke Dock involves providing specialist community psychiatric care to individuals with intellectual disabilities in Pembrokeshire. The post holder will lead a multi-disciplinary team, focus on developing teaching and research initiatives, and participate in a Consultant on-call rota. Key responsibilities include effective team leadership, participating in clinical audits, supporting the training of junior medical staff, and engaging in Continuous Professional Development (CPD). Additionally, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to hold an Honorary Academic title at a partner university, contributing to undergraduate teaching and research activities.

The service aims to improve access to high-quality care for people with learning disabilities and has established various health pathways, including Dementia and Epilepsy. The Consultant will play a vital role in addressing health inequalities and enhancing the service's capacity, while also being committed to the Health Board's operational policies. This position requires core expertise in Intellectual Disability Psychiatry, along with leadership and collaborative skills to strengthen earlier intervention and prevention models within the community.
