The role of Senior Physical Healthcare Nurse at HMP Fosse Way within the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust offers a unique opportunity to provide healthcare in a custodial environment, emphasizing rehabilitation and reintegration for offenders. This position involves working as part of a comprehensive Primary Healthcare Team that addresses various patient needs, from initial assessments and emergency responses to managing long-term conditions and offering health promotion services. The nurse will play a critical role in delivering care equivalent to that received in the community and will have the responsibility for patient assessment, medication administration, and emergency response, while also mentoring junior staff and upholding professional standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with prison officers to ensure safe, patient-centered healthcare, and will have access to a broad network of over 400 healthcare professionals for support and development. The role requires proactive engagement with the healthcare needs of typically underserved individuals, delivering evidence-based care and specialized clinics. Additionally, the position offers opportunities for further training and development, with a focus on fostering a positive health experience for patients within the prison system.
