Dietetic & Speech Therapy Service




Band 5 Dietitian




Full Time: 37.5 hours per week

The clinical caseload will include providing a high quality, evidence-based dietetic service to a range of adult wards including general medicine and surgery where you will be a valued member of the multidisciplinary teams. In addition, you will manage an outpatient caseload, which includes weekly diabetic and general clinics. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in areas such as ICU, gastroenterology, surgery and neurorehab. The post holder will also be involved in staff and patient education programmes. The post holders will be involved in clinical audits, department wide projects and service improvements.

The department is committed to continuing professional development, with one of the Trust's key priorities being to develop a quality workforce through an effective appraisal system. There is a well-established borough-wide Dietetic network which offers peer support and there are good opportunities and guidance for ongoing personal development. The post holder will be supported by a Senior Dietitian involving regular clinical supervision.


Job Purpose

1. To contribute to the delivery of Nutrition and Dietetic Services to theHillingdon Hospital NHS Trust (including cover to the Mount VernonSite and clinic)2. To assess and treat a defined caseload of patients and maintainaccurate records.

To undertake nutritional assessment and calculate nutritionalrequirements of referred in-patients at Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust,taking into account medical, social and cultural factors.2. To provide nutrition and dietary advice suitable for the patientsmedical, social and cultural factors which is evidence-based.3. To negotiate change with patients to enable them to achieve dietarytargets set.4. To monitor and review nutritional care plans against outcomemeasures and adjust care plan to facilitate achievement of goals.
