An exciting opportunity has arisen within Peartree Community service for an enthusiastic Band 7/8 Speech and Language Therapist with experience in neurorehabilitation to join our highly developed inter-disciplinary team. The post-holder will work closely alongside our dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team, which includes Nurses, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychologist, rehabilitation assistants and health care support workers.
Peartree community service is a private specialist service based in Southampton, dedicated to providing assessment, treatment and management to people with an acquired brain injury or complex neurological conditions. Through active neurological rehabilitation, slow stream rehabilitation or long-term complex care, we pride ourselves on providing goal-driven, patient-centred interventions. The service focuses on managing a range of deficits caused by an acquired brain injury and neurological problems, with the aim of reintegration into community, family, social, education and work situations.
Peartree Community service fosters a learning environment and actively supports CPD for all staff. There is a keen interest in developing and sharing knowledge, with regular opportunities to complete in-service training and attendance at conferences/courses. Access to regular external clinical supervision is supported.
The post holder will provide speech and language service to Peartree Community service clients which will require some travel to see clients in their own homes, within our outpatient hub or in virtual sessions. You will be expected to work independently to provide a range of specialised communication and swallowing assessments and interventions to clients. The role extends to working with families and support networks (where appropriate), key-working, liaison with other agencies, training/provision of support to other staff. The post offers a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively within a highly skilled and experienced multi-disciplinary team to achieve excellent neurorehabilitation for our clients. All applicants must have HCPC registration. Excellent teamworking, communication and organisational skills are essential.
About us
The post holder will provide an intensive Speech & Language Therapy service to adults in our community service. These clients will have acquired disorders of communication and/ or swallowing due to neurological causes/acquired brain injuries.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the collaborative working with clients, family, carers and colleagues in Health, private case management, the voluntary sector and Social Services in planning and delivery of services.
The post holder will demonstrate efficacy of this service to stakeholders with appropriate liaison and relevant audit/stats/outcomes.
Provide teaching and highly specialist support in the management of complex conditions, educating other healthcare professionals and wider stakeholders as required.
Contribute to the delivery of a highly effective, safe and personal service, delivered around the needs of individual clients/carers as described by agreed goals/outcome measures.
Be part of the senior therapy structure and contribute toward the strategic and clinical development of the service.
Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team providing highly specialist advice/intervention to support the assessment, management and discharge planning of clients.
