The Surgical Breast Care Nurse position at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is an internal role focused on providing high-quality clinical care for patients undergoing breast surgery. The nurse will manage breast surgical wound clinics, deliver care pre- and post-operatively, and work closely with breast surgeons and the Macmillan Breast Cancer Nursing Services Team. Key responsibilities include acting as a primary contact for patients, overseeing benign diagnosis clinics, offering in-patient support, and ensuring effective communication among healthcare professionals.

Additionally, the role requires the nurse to engage in complex conversations with patients, provide education on breast wound care, promote patient self-management, and maintain comprehensive patient records according to Trust and NMC standards. The nurse will also play a pivotal role in clinical governance by integrating best practices and research into patient care while supervising and mentoring junior staff to ensure effective clinical practice.
