The Designated Nurse for Looked After Children and Care Leavers role at NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board involves collaborating with the designated doctors and a wider health team to enhance health outcomes for looked after children and care leavers up to age 25. The post holder will serve as an expert advisor to ensure the ICB meets its statutory duties, as outlined in relevant guidelines and legislation such as "Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023" and "Promoting the Health and Well-being of Looked After Children 2015."

Key responsibilities include providing strategic leadership in safeguarding efforts, advising on health service improvements, and ensuring compliance with statutory guidance. The nurse will work closely with various local partners and the safeguarding children partnership, lead the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly looked after children health forum, and coordinate healthcare services to protect and promote the welfare of looked after children.
