The role of the Mental Health Liaison Nurse with the Croydon Mental Health Liaison Service at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust involves providing psychiatric assessments for individuals aged 18 and above who present in emergencies at Croydon University Hospital. The nurse will deliver urgent assessments and short-term interventions, requiring strong clinical confidence, excellent assessment and communication skills, as well as the ability to make independent decisions. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the nurse will collaborate closely with colleagues while maintaining high standards of care.

Candidates should be registered as Adult, Mental Health, or Learning Disabilities Nurses, possess a mentorship qualification, and demonstrate significant clinical experience along with a commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice. The role demands resilience in managing challenging interpersonal situations and a capacity to deliver responsive, quality care autonomously.
