Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Training
Health Visiting
Contract: Fixed term contract for one year (internal secondment opportunities). Successful candidates will be offered a place subject to funding from Health Education England.
Base: Derby City
Band 5: £30,639 pa, pro rata training rate for external candidates

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has training opportunities to complete Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) Health Visiting for all qualified Nurses and Midwives on a fixed term 12 month contract. This is at level 7 in conjunction with the University of Derby.
Subject to funding from HEE and the University obtaining accreditation for the SCPHN programme.
The course is delivered at academic level 7. You need a nursing degree to apply or can evidence recent study at level 7.
Informal visits welcome.
Joint interviews with DHCFT and the University of Derby will be held during April 2025.
The course is 50/50 theory and practice and both elements must be fulfilled in order to gain NMC registration. Academic study will be undertaken at the University of Derby and practice based learning will be within the Derby City community health teams. Holidays are determined by the University and set within the course.
For this post you will work closely with a practice supervisor and be assessed during the placement by a practice assessor.
You will be expected to achieve all elements of the competencies both academically and in practice as set out by the NMC.
On completion of the course you will be a qualified Specialist Public Health Nurse in Health Visiting working within a 0-19 children's service division.

Starting in September 2025 you will be given a fixed term contract with Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (DHCFT) to undertake a one year full time course to complete the BSc/PGDip/MSc SCPHN at Level 7 at the University of Derby. This is subject to funding from HEE.

- Be proactive in meeting national and local identified targets in-line with local delivery plans and the public health agenda.
- Deliver a cost effective service, which is patient focused.
- Work effectively as a team member and independently, both within the practice setting and at university.
- Complete all patient documentation in accordance with NMC guidelines.
