£11.44 to £12.52 an hour - Enhanced rate of pay for weekends  PERMANENT  GOOD SALARY 

We are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join our friendly team at Whitstable Medical Practice. This role will be primarily to support the Dermatology Services across 7 sites:

  • Whitstable
  • Herne Bay
  • Canterbury
  • Ramsgate
  • Sittingbourne
  • Folkestone
  • Ashford

Millage will be paid from Estuary View Medical Centre to all locations, with travel time paid for some locations outside a specific radius.

In addition, support for all Clinical Services and GP Services may be required at any given time if it aligns with the practice needs, or to cover annual leave/sickness. This role is rota based and will be provided on a monthly basis; this is subject to change to the service needs.

The hourly rate of pay is £11.44 rising to £12.52 after successful 6 month probationary period.

Hours:

Monday, Wednesday Thursday & Friday 8:00 - 16:00 (These hours may be adjusted i.e. 8:30 - 16:30/9:00 - 17:00 depending on the needs of the service)

32 weekday hours.

If desirable, this role could could also include two contracted shifts per month on a Saturday to support the Phlebotomy clinics (8:00 - 13:00) This would bring the role up to a total of 37 hours per week (Full time) All Saturday shifts would be paid at time and a half.

To work as a team member under supervision of the Clinical Services Team to provide and maintain an optimum level of care for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting clinicians in a theatre setting with Minor Surgical procedures.
  • Overview of stock for the Dermatology department; proactively keeping cupboards and trolleys well stocked and tidy sending stock requests through to the relevant administrator for ordering. Unpacking deliveries of stock.
  • Filling the hand-held liquid nitrogen as required.
  • Phlebotomy clinics where required.
  • Filing of patient information and entering results of Blood Pressures, urinalysis etc. on the clinical system.
  • Setting up clinics with the correct equipment for the specific service and putting equipment away after the clinic has finished.
  • Working alongside the clinicians in the provision of patient care.
  • Measurement of blood pressure, temperature and pulse.
  • Recognise changes in the patients observations, which must be reported and acted on.
  • Assist clinicians in emergency management of patients.
  • Enable patients to access appropriate professionals in the practice team.
  • Act as a chaperone.
  • Provide relevant health promotion literature for patients.

Other duties as per nurses and doctors instructions as dictated by the changes in nature of Whitstable Medical Practice.
