This post is to provide a clinical service in Orthopaedics at CT1/2 level, working closely with the Consultants, Specialist Registrars, and Foundation Doctors. The post will include a 1:14 full shift commitment for emergency admissions and weekend ward cover.
The junior doctors are exposed to the conservative and surgical management inpatient and outpatient settings. They are actively involved in the direct clinical care of patients admitted under the orthopaedic consultants for emergency and elective surgery. Attendance at clinics and operating sessions for both elective and emergency work is essential.
There is a comprehensive training programme with daily educational trauma meetings, and additional scheduled radiology and orthopaedic teaching, as well as the trust wide induction and training programs. There are annual formal appraisals and clinical and educational supervision. There are weekly Orthopaedic/Journal Club Meetings/ Radiology Meetings/MDTs and a monthly Research Meeting. There is formal training on Wednesday afternoons as part of the Regional Training in Surgery. The appointee will be expected to participate in Clinical Audit. The department offers financial assistance for ISCP enrolment for post-holders to keep records of their training with a view to progression
