The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is seeking a Full-time Trainee Advanced Practitioner in Acute Medicine and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) to join their team at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. The position involves enrolling in an approved Advanced Practitioner Apprenticeship or ePortfolio route, requiring the development of competencies in acute medicine over approximately three years, leading to a band 8a qualification. Trainees will engage in 30 hours of clinical work each week, supplemented by teaching and placements across various departments, including emergency medicine and intensive care.

The role demands high-level clinical expertise in patient assessment and diagnosis, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based decision-making and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Trainees will be expected to demonstrate professional judgment, risk management, and self-awareness while continually working on personal development through an educational supervisor. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to initiate a range of clinical interventions and will eventually transition to a role combining 80% clinical and 20% non-clinical responsibilities post-qualification, including audit and quality improvement projects.
