Cellular Pathology has a vacancy for a Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist. This is a permanent position, 37.5 hours per week. The successfulcandidate will be hardworking, reliable, flexible and must work well within a team.
Cellular Pathology comprises Histology and Non-gynae cytology, supported by a comprehensive immunohistochemistry service.
We receive around 33,000 histology and 3,000 non-gynae requests per year. Work at a specialist level across a range of manual and automated procedures including: Specimen reception, BMS cut up, microtomy, cryotomy, non-gynae cytology, immunocytochemistry.
Perform internal and external quality control, monitor results
Handle specimens of relevant categories in BMS cut up
Work independently, planning own workload and troubleshooting when necessary.
Train and develop students and other staff
