ITU Senior Staff Nurse
to join our cutting-edge
Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) / High Dependency Unit (HDU)
at The Princess Grace Hospital. Our unit specializes in providing care for complex
colorectal, liver, and urological cases
, and we are expanding our services to include
complex spinal cases
requiring staged operations.




Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Staff Nurse in our ITU/HDU, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of the department. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality, tailored care to patients with complex needs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Providing expert clinical knowledge and hands-on care within the ITU.
  • Supporting, mentoring, and coaching junior nurses to help them develop and progress in their roles.
  • Taking part in the
    Critical Care Outreach Team
    , which focuses on enhancing patient care, supporting hospital ward staff, and alleviating pressure on the wider hospital teams.

Main Purpose of the Role:

To provide high-quality, patient-centered care within the ICU, support the day-to-day functioning of the department, and contribute to the professional development of junior staff. The role also involves liaising with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring that hospital policies and protocols are followed.


Principal Duties:
  • Deliver expert, patient-specific care in the ICU.
  • Ensure smooth departmental operations in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse.
  • Mentor and support junior nurses in developing their skills.
  • Take an active role in clinical problem-solving and early intervention.
  • Manage and monitor staffing needs, including staff rota preparation.
  • Collaborate with consultants, patients, visitors, and external departments.

Problem-Solving Ability:
  • Manage staffing issues in the absence of senior staff.
  • Recognize and respond to clinical issues, and escalate as needed.
  • Handle inquiries and complaints with appropriate referral.
  • Address supply discrepancies and efficiently manage resources.
  • Adapt to and appreciate cultural diversity in patient care.

Sphere of Influence:
  • Liaison with consultants, staff, patients, visitors, and internal/external departments.
  • Tactfully represent the hospital and initiate improvements in clinical care delivery.
  • Provide training and support to junior staff.

  • Assess, plan, and deliver patient care, while maintaining confidentiality.
