Job description
Following progression within the team, we are looking for an experienced CYP Eating Disorders Practitioner/Psychological Therapist to provide support to children, young people and their families receiving treatment from the team through liaison with acute wards, paediatric wards and general hospitals forming a key element of the treatment care pathway.
This NHS provision has been developed to deliver a specialist community eating disorders service to children and young people aged 8 - 18 years across South Staffordshire. This role will work closely with acute medical units at local general hospitals to offer support, advice and specialist training with the services in order to develop a Nasogastric feeding pathway.
You will be working as part of a highly experienced and close multi-disciplinary community team. The team is skilled, forward thinking, friendly and highly supportive delivering evidence-based treatments with young people and their families to provide the most effective treatment, which has influenced a high recovery rate. 100% of surveyed service users would recommend the service. We work using a phased family based approach with patients to empower them in taking ownership of their recovery. Working to promote recovery, build resilience, and empowerment are core.
The role will involve frequent travel across the West Midlands
- Providing community based psychotherapeutic services to children & young people and their families who are referred to the CAMHS Eating Disorders Service.
- Working as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team for CAMHS Eating Disorders and in an integrated way with wider teams and services to meet the needs of the CYP & Families. The post holder will provide assessment and appropriate interventions to individuals with eating disorders. This should be in accordance with NICE guidance.
- Offering advice, support and supervision to other healthcare professionals both internal and external to the team.
- To actively participate in the development of specialist pathway for CYP presenting with ARFID (avoidant Restrictive food Intake disorder).
- To act as Care Co-ordinator for Eating Disorder Service clients, as appropriate.
- To spend the main proportion of time engaged in or related to clinical activity.
- The number of sessions apportioned to clinical work, research, supervision, professional and team meetings, teaching or training and continuing professional development will be agreed with the Team Leader.
