The Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in Hastings is offering a unique opportunity for an experienced Consultant Psychologist to become a Multi Professional Approved and Responsible Clinician (MPARC) as part of a transformation in urgent and acute mental health care. The role is open to qualified Consultant Practitioner Psychologists who are already approved as Approved Clinicians under the Mental Health Act 1983 or to those who are willing to undertake training to gain this status. The position involves leading within a specialist field, providing clinical and professional guidance, and developing high standards of service delivery while managing a caseload in inpatient and urgent care pathways.

For candidates in training, the position entails an 12 to 18-month program that aims to develop the eight core competencies necessary for Approved Clinician status. Trainees will receive comprehensive support from multi-professional colleagues while being accountable for planning and coordinating care for patients with severe mental health conditions. Both qualified and trainee roles emphasize clinical leadership, the implementation of research and quality improvement projects, and the delivery of high-quality mental health services within the East Sussex locality.
