The post will also be suitable for those with a background in surgery (particularly cardiothoracic surgery) and medicine who wish to gain experience in ICU and learn the associated practical skills. We are committed to trying, to support the post holders with their individual professional needs by tailoring the rota and clinical exposure accordingly.
The current work of the cardiothoracic department includes coronary artery bypass operations (on and off pump), valve replacement or repair and aortic root surgery. There is also a busy interventional cardiac catheter lab performing procedures such as ASD and PFO closure, MitraClips and TAVIs.
