A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Band 5
Immunisation Nurse
to join our Maternity team.

You will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team providing professional leadership, support and specialist knowledge in relation to Pregnancy immunisations and BCG immunisation. You will have responsibility for leading the National Immunisations in Pregnancy Programmes and BCG Immunisations programme and to develop and implement systems to evaluate and facilitate service changes.

  • Ensure professional and clinical standards are maintained and developed in response to new evidence
  • Act as a supportive professional role model for nursing, providing care for women in line with current evidence, vaccination policies and guidelines in accordance with the NMC Code
  • Manage the immunisation team for maternity services
  • Maintain awareness of national developments within pregnancy and BCG immunisation and disseminate such information
  • To assess, implement and evaluate the Pregnancy and BCG Immunisation programmes in line with the service specification.
  • In conjunction with the screening team, develop an environment which supports the value of the vaccination programme for pregnant women.
  • To act as an advocate for those women in the care pathway.
  • To ensure that vaccines are stored and used in accordance with the organisational policies and guidance.
  • To promote health education for the woman and her family at all times. To undertake opportunistic approach to delivering the programme as necessary.
  • Complete and maintain electronic and any written records as required.
  • To provide support for Midwifery members of staff and colleagues, regarding the programme
