The role of Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Community at Waverley Road, St Albans, with Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, involves providing comprehensive assessments, developing biopsychosocial care plans, and delivering evidence-based treatments within a recovery-focused service. The psychiatrist will manage a caseload in which patients deemed recovered and low-risk are discharged back to Primary Care with provisions for rapid re-access to the service if needed, while also ensuring that the views of GPs, patients, and carers are considered throughout the discharge process.

In addition to clinical duties, the post holder will supervise and appraise junior medical staff, participate in administrative tasks, and contribute to service and business planning. The role includes maintaining professional registrations, engaging in continuous professional development, and ensuring compliance with Trust policies. The psychiatrist will also be actively involved in financial management and support strategic planning for the mental health services.
