As the NHS evolves with the introduction of Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and integrated care systems, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, dynamic, and flexible individual to work as a Trainee Cross-sector Pharmacy Technician.
The Pharmacy Technician role is becoming increasingly sought after and varied as medication becomes more sophisticated and technology evolves. Pharmacy Technicians play an important role in complementing Pharmacists and other members of multi-disciplinary teams carrying out a range of duties as outlined in the job description.
We are excited to announce that University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) has joined forces with the Coventry & Rugby GP Alliance to incorporate this training role which combines on the job training and 1 study day per week in order to achieve the following qualification:
The above qualification is achieved over a 2-year period and successful completion will enable registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a qualified Pharmacy Technician.
This is a 2-year full time fixed term contract working 37.5 hours Monday to Friday including participation in weekend working, bank holiday working, and late nights. Apprenticeship funding rules apply.
The ideal candidate will be flexible, methodical and decisive with excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others.
To gain experience of the technical work carried out by Pharmacy Technicians within both hospital and primary care settings across University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire and the Coventry & Rugby GP Alliance. This will include completing rotations in areas such as dispensary and stores for the management and supply of pharmaceuticals; goods receipt (receiving stock) clinical trials, medicines information, Medicines Management (interaction with patients and supply of medication at ward level) and working as part of the MDT in a GP practice within a Primary Care Network. Successful completion of the two-year training course will enable achievement of the Pharmacy Technician Training Programme - Apprenticeship pathway and ultimately lead to professional registration with the GPhC.
