We are recruiting for a Care Worker (Relief) to join our passionate and committed team, in our Extra Care service in Blackwood. We have a part time, 16 hour, permanent position. This service needs to be staffed 24/7 so you will be required to work various shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends, wakeful nights and sleep in shifts as part of a rolling rota. What is the role?
This service is the home of 42 residents with individual personalities and different support needs including some with dementia.
As an Extra Care service, the individuals we support here are 55+and live in their own self-contained flat.
Duties Will Include
- Ensuring health and wellbeing of residents.
- Providing personal care and emotional support.
- Medication administration.
- Participating in stimulating activities.
- Involving residents in a person-centred approach.
What skills and experience do you need?
A background of working with older people is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are;
- Excellent communication skills, with an enthusiastic and positive outlook
- Ability to respond to people’s emotional, psychological, social and spiritual needs
- The confidence to work as part of a team in a sometimes-challenging environment, using your own initiative
- The desire to develop skills, undertaking appropriate training courses when offered
What are the pay and benefits?
- Competitive salary of £22,774 FTE, which is £12.15 per hour
- Wakeful night rate - £12.15 + 20%
- Sleep in rate - £62.64
- 26 days (pro rata) holiday entitlement plus Bank holidays
